Todd S Coral Springs , FL February 10, 2016 Oven heat wires were burned My oven heating element stopped working, and in trying to install a new heating element, I found that the heat wires in the back of the oven that connect to the heating element inside the oven were burned at the terminal connections due to the previous element not being connected properly. I went behind the oven and snipped off the burned section of the wires (including the terminals), then went to a local appliance supply store and got two new 1-foot sections of heat wire with the terminals already attached. I then stripped one inch off both the remaining 2 heat wires behind the oven and the 2 new terminal wires. I connected the wires using the ceramic wire nuts (you cannot use the standard plastic wire nuts on heat wire - they will melt), then fed the wires back through the holes into the oven, and finally reconnected a new heating element.
