Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more
I'd replaced the motor that I purchased here about a month ago. It worked fine for a few weeks, then it just stopped and wouldn't start. I searched on the Internet and found the 3 most likely culprits. Since the dryer is 24+ years old, I decided to just purchase all 3 and replace them. The dryer cycling thermostat was different than the original, so I didn't replace it. 20 minutes and I had the dryer thermal fuse and thermostat replaced and the dryer functioning.
