The float needle valve floats in the carburetor float bowl to control fuel flow into the carburetor. As the bowl's fuel level goes down, the float valve needle also goes down, eventually blocking flow when the bowl is empty and thus signaling the need for more fuel. The float valve needle may stick or erode over time and need to be replaced. If the engine is not idling, stalls or hesitates, or is misfiring, the float valve needle may be the culprit. A socket set and wrench set are required for the removal and replacement. This project takes between thirty minutes and an hour. Empty the fuel from the fuel tank and carburetor before starting the project. Make sure the engine is cool and that the spark plug has been removed before starting.
