This extension spring is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used on many lawn mowers and other lawn and garden machines. Extension springs are used on the deck handle to lift the deck up and down. It attaches to the deck on one end and the deck handle on the other. As the handle is lifted up and down, the spring provides tension that holds the deck to the machine while at the same time stretching to allow the up and down movement. If the spring is not functioning correctly, the deck may not go up and down as smoothly or at all. Springs don't normally break; however, over time with repeated use, they may stretch beyond use or rust and not stretch at all. Routine maintenance and visual inspection will reveal this and repairs can be made before damage to the mower occurs.Extension springs cannot be repaired, they have to be replaced.
