This replacement part is a short block. It is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. A short block is a part that is found inside the engine. It comprises a portion of the cylinder block below the head gasket but above the oil pan. This helps the engine run smoothly overall as well as start and stop the engine efficiently. A new short block might be needed if the user notices that the current one is damaged in any way including being bent, dented, cracked, or chipped. If the user hears unusual noises coming from inside the machine it is possible that the short block is malfunctioning. This can be due to normal wear and tear over time. If this is the case it is recommended that the user replace this part immediately. This is a genuine OEM replacement part. This short block is sold individually and is sourced directly from the manufacturer.
