This is the trimmer head assembly that attaches to the end of a string trimmer's drive shaft. It holds and feeds the cutting line used to trim grass and weeds. Replace this assembly if the head is cracked, the line feed mechanism no longer advances properly, or the head wobbles or detaches during use.

When removing the crankshaft, insert a 20-inch length of starter rope into the spark plug hole onto the piston, leaving some for removal. Using a wrench, rotate the clutch until the piston moves up and catches the rope, binding it and locking the crankshaft. When installing the new ignition module, be sure to use a spark plug gap spacer to ensure the proper gap between it and the magnets on the flywheel.
