This is a short block assembly for a string trimmer. The short block consists of many of the engine components, including the cylinder and crank case, the piston and connecting rod, the crankshaft, the flywheel, the spark plugs, and the ignition module. This is a genuine OEM part and is sold individually. This assembly is compatible with Craftsman, Murray, Troy-Bilt, and Yard Man.A problem with any of the components of the engine will cause issues. For major failure of multiple components, the short block assembly contains all parts needed to repair the entire engine. Getting to the short block assembly requires taking the machine apart piece by piece. When removing the crankshaft, insert a 20-inch length of starter rope into the spark plug hole onto the piston, leaving some for removal. Using a wrench, rotate the clutch until the piston moves up and catches the rope, binding it and locking the crankshaft. When installing the new ignition module, be sure to use a spark plug gap spacer to ensure the proper gap between it and the magnets on the flywheel.
