This ball detent is a genuine MTD replacement part for appliances operated by small engines, including lawn tractors, lawn mowers, snowblowers, leaf blowers, chipper shredders, and tillers. The function of a ball detent is to temporarily keep two parts in place relative to one another, as one or both of the parts rotate.A ball detent might have to be replaced in the event that it suffers damage over time or is lost or misplaced. It is possible for ball detents to fall out of their spot, meaning that the parts that it ordinarily holds in place will not be able to rotate properly. Additionally, a ball detent might have to be replaced if there is material deterioration. If this occurs, a replacement ball detent part should be ordered and secured to the small engine appliance immediately. Remember to always wear gloves when handling, repairing, and operating outdoor equipment. This ball detent is compatible with the following brands: MTD, Yard Man, Yard Machines, and Troy-Bilt.

I replaced the igniter. It was made more difficult by one of the machine screws on the oven had been over torqued at the factory. It had stripped the screw and made removal of the old igniter very difficult. If not for that, this would have been a 15 minute repair. Read more
