Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The gaskets were worh out   John M. • Kihei , HI • April 13, 2015

This is a side x side. I removed the refrigerator door first, laid it on the counter, These doors have screws all around under the gaskets. Loosed the screws, removed the old gasket. I left the new gaskets in the sun while I removed the old ones. Stated with the new gasket in one corner then the opposite corner then continued around the door. Retightened screws then put the door back on the unit. Repeated the same with the freezer door. Disconnecting power and water line before removing... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Burned out oven bake element   Richard S. • Camano Island , WA • May 19, 2015

Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. Reverse the past few steps and re-attach the wires and screw. Simple as that. I also chose to replace the Broiler Element as a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My stove was smoking so I called the fire department. The firemen could not see a flame so they took the stove out to my front yard and opened it. Inside was socks, crackers, and a rubber glove.   Samantha J. • Bellingham , WA • March 13, 2014

I used to have a ferret that liked to steal socks but I did not know she had been crawlinging into my stove to hide stuff. She had made a nest out of the insulation but did not hurt any wires. I cleaned up the sides of my stove and noted that the wires and mechanisms were all fine. I knew all I needed was the side and top wrap of insulation. I went to the hardware store, they didn't carry it. All the local companies, including box stores also stated it was "out of stock." I got on the... Read more
