Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. This small component limits how far the oven door opens, preventing it from dropping down completely and protecting the hinges. Replace it when the oven door opens too far, drops suddenly, or won't stay in the partially open position.
