I believe the shock absorbers were bad and caused too much stress on the spring, breaking it. I replaced the spring, spring protector, and shock absorbers. I got lucky; when I got the drum back up where it belonged I saw that the door boot seal straightened itself back out and wasn’t damaged so I didn’t have to replace it. Follow instructions on internet. The only issue was the flat head allen drive screw securing the belt pulley to the shaft. Rounded the allen drive and wrench. Drilled two holes on opposite sides of allen drive hole. Elongated to make a long slot. Used impact driver to remove screw. Read more
