Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. I used to have a ferret that liked to steal socks but I did not know she had been crawlinging into my stove to hide stuff. She had made a nest out of the insulation but did not hurt any wires. I cleaned up the sides of my stove and noted that the wires and mechanisms were all fine. I knew all I needed was the side and top wrap of insulation.
