This is a genuine OEM replacement tiller oil seal sourced from the manufacturer. It is designed for use with the tine shaft on various tillers. It prevents outside contaminants like water and debris from reaching the oil. The seal also prevents oil leaks, which would cause the bearing and gears not to receive adequate lubrication. Normal wear and tear will take a toll on the oil seal. Changing this seal should be done regularly, and anytime the tiller shows signs of decreased performance. Before starting, make sure the tiller is cool. Park it on a flat surface and remove the spark plug. Drain the fuel from the engine. Remove the gear housing cover on the tine shaft. Slide the gear assembly of the shaft and locate the oil seal. Remove the old oil seal. Clear the area any dirt and old oil with a clean cloth before installing the new oil seal. Apply lubricant to the oil seal to help with installation and sealing. Reinstall all parts. This oil seal is made of heavy-duty rubber and sold as an individual unit. It is designed for tillers manufactured by Troy-Bilt, MTD, Bolens, Craftsman, and Yard Machines.
This OEM replacement part is a forward clutch spring. The forward clutch spring, also known as the extension spring, is commonly used to allow the idler pulley bracket to pivot when activating or turning off the blade rotation. If the blades are no longer rotating properly, this part might need to be replaced. Luckily, this is a very simple process. To replace the extension spring, start by removing the mower deck. Once removed, locate the spring. Once visible, unhook the top portion of the spring from the hole it is attached to. Replace the old spring with the new one and make sure it is attached securely. Reinstall the mower deck. This genuine replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with MTD brand lawnmowers.
