I replaced the controller. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get to it. The video on the website showed access to the control via the rear panel. On the Kitchen Aid we have, the back panel is part of the range's main frame and does not come off. Turns out, 2 screws behind the fluorescent lamp had to be removed and the entire control panel housing lifts up and can be tilted forward. This is a V-groove drive pulley with an integrated hub designed for the transmission system of a lawn tractor. It transfers rotational power from the engine via the drive belt to the transmission. I had the transmission pulley wear and strip off the hub on top of gearbox after 5 years of heavy use on this machine. What I mean is my yard is very big and is primarily hills I assume this is what caused the failure over time.
