This is a resin waveguide cover that sits inside the microwave cavity and shields the magnetron opening from food splatter and moisture. It allows microwave energy to pass through while protecting internal components. Replace this cover if it is cracked, burned, warped, or if you notice arcing or sparking during operation.
I searched the web and it seemed that many people had a similar problem when gunk got on the waveguide plate/cover. When I removed the cover, one of the plastic latches broke so rather than just trying to clean the plate, I had to order a new one. When Microwaving food, the display panel would seem to act normal, but the typical microwave sound would be absent. No microwave action would occur. Eventually an F5 code would display. LG Help-line said probably a failed magnetron, but since out of warranty,referred me to an authorized LG repair service. They wanted $79.95 service call to come out & diagnose problem. Plastic film covers holes in the microwave inner door frame. Replace if bubbled, burned, cracked, or peeling. Attaches to door glass assembly.
Careful placement of new screws into the inside of the outer door that now hold the frame assembly to the door secured the frame assembly to the outer door. All of the other parts I bought and replaced were a waste of money. I figured since I had them I might as well install them anyways.
