The part listed is an MTD Torx screw. Torx screws are used for a variety of different jobs. Typically known as a "star bit" screw, these screws can only be fastened and removed with a Torx socket or Torx screwdriver. These screws are most commonly found on the carburetor, the seat, and the transmission on lawn mowers. Torx screws can be installed on any component that needs extra tightening or varying degrees of tightening. When used on the transmission, these screws raise and lower specific settings on the lawn mower. The carburetor is used to tighten and loosen this component to allow more or less gas flow. This product is compatible with most lawn mowers.
