This carriage bolt is a self-locking bolt designed to be used in an unthreaded square or round hole. This replacement part is an idler pulley. This is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. Pulleys are typically able to connect multiple parts together so they can operate when the engine is powered on. A new idler pulley might be needed if the current one has become stripped over time. Due to the nature of the pulley, it experiences a great deal of friction over time and can begin to malfunction. If the user notices unusual noises coming from the inside of the machine, it can be due to a pulley that has moved out of place.
