Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. The fix was to replace the thermostat. The oven was a 40 year old Magic Chef wall unit and the replacement part was an exact fit. You have to slide the unit all the way out of the cabinet to replace the thermostat. Food cooks perfectly and the wife is happy. Read more
