The fix was to replace the thermostat. The oven was a 40 year old Magic Chef wall unit and the replacement part was an exact fit. You have to slide the unit all the way out of the cabinet to replace the thermostat. Food cooks perfectly and the wife is happy. Read more

This is a knob sleeve or skirt that covers the push switch mechanism on ranges and ovens. It provides a finished appearance and protects the switch assembly from moisture and debris. Replace this when the sleeve cracks, discolors, or comes loose, exposing the internal switch components.
