Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. This is a knob sleeve or skirt that covers the push switch mechanism on ranges and ovens. It provides a finished appearance and protects the switch assembly from moisture and debris. Replace this when the sleeve cracks, discolors, or comes loose, exposing the internal switch components.
