Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more

We replaced the lid hinges with new bushings as this is a very old machine and they were worn out affecting the position of the hinges and thereby affecting the lid switch. Also replaced the lid switch, which was a breeze with the help of the video. Thanks to the Covid 19, I was bored and fixed the problem because I had to stay home and do stuff that I was putting off. This rotary temperature selector switch controls oven temperature selection and gives precise user input to the range's control assembly for accurate cooking. It replaces a worn or unresponsive temperature selector so the oven can register chosen settings. What it does:

Selects oven temperature or cooking mode via a 4-position rotary selector
Restores tactile rotation and detent feedback when the original switch is stiff or broken
Can stop incorrect or no-temperature selection symptoms such as oven not changing heat setting or failing to respond to knob changes
Interfaces with the range's control circuitry to send the selected temperature signal to the main control
