Weird deal. Gas pressure had dropped due to low propane. This allowed the pressure at the regulator to drop below the set pressure, opening the regulator. A slight seepage past the valves must have allowed the smell. Propane tank was refilled and the gas smell disappeared. We replaced the igniter. To do the job right you need to pull the oven off the wall (this was the 6 burner with griddle dual oven). you need to get to the igniter plug by taking off the entire back.... easier than it sounds... the hardest part is sliding the stove out and back in...
