I decided to ask my husband to repair this ourselves after reading the reviews that all read the task was easy peezy 15-30 minutes. It's easy now that he knows how to do it. We followed the instructions provided with the new element. When powered up for burn in phase, heard a loud 'pop'. Turned the power back off. Pulled oven out of wall to access the back of the oven. Took off the back of oven. It was very obvious that the element had shorted out on the oven case. The connectors on the element end up touching the oven case when installed per instructions. Removing the double wall oven from cabinet was the hardest part. Bulky and heavy, about 250lbs. Removed doors and racks, then had helper to remove oven and put it on a flat rolling movers cart. The cart made it easier to work on unit and kept it from damaging floor. Replacing part was pretty easy. Removed back panel and top cover to replace upper oven cooling fan, and also replaced upper convection fan at same time. Removing the oven door is described in detail on many online sources. It involves opening the installed door, depressing it slightly more and engaging clips on both sides that hold the moving hinge parts stationary.
