Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Cleaned mold/scale off of as much of the door as I could while in there as well. Removing parts without breaking plastic tabs to hold the new parts was trickiest part. Read more

I pulled out the old housing and unplugged the motor. It pretty much came out in pieces. Remove the plastic from the motor, then had to take a pair of vice grips to hold the spindle in place to remove the auger. Remove what was still attached to the old Housing. Cleaned everything up and put the whole unit back together. The motor looked like it was somewhat cooked but still worked, so I ordered a new motor and auger to replace it. The dryer hi-limit thermostat is a safety device that prevents overheating by shutting off the heating element when temperatures get too high, located on the blower housing or heat source. Replace when clothes take too long to dry, the dryer shuts off prematurely, or when you notice inadequate heat production.
This is a small metal or plastic retainer clip that secures the main top panel of the dryer to the cabinet frame. It holds the top panel firmly in place so it doesn't shift or rattle during operation. If your dryer's top panel feels loose, pops up during use, or won't stay properly seated, this clip may be broken or missing.
