The Ice Dispenser Lever is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerators with built-in ice dispensers. Located inside the ice and water compartment, the lever is responsible for releasing cubed or crushed ice when engaged. Symptoms of a bad ice dispenser lever include:
Causes of a bad lever can be worn gears or connector linkages inside the ice dispensing mechanism from repeated use over time. This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, and select Kenmore fridge models.
I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better. I followed the instructions in the video, which were very useful and very well done. My problem was that the refrigerator is a KitchenAid built-in, while the instructions were for a Whirlpool, so the removal of the faceplate was quite different from what was shown in the video and more difficult. Watched the do it yourself video, ordered replacement handle, which only took 16 hours to arrive, removed the 4 screws as shown in the video and was done!!! Complete repair took less than 2 minutes. Hope that no thing else goes wrong but if it does, already know where to go, thanks Read more
