This is the cap that seals the rinse aid reservoir on the dishwasher door. It keeps rinse aid contained so it dispenses properly during the rinse cycle. Replace this cap if it is cracked, missing, or no longer seals tightly, which can cause rinse aid to leak out prematurely and result in spotty or poorly dried dishes.
Took cover completely off and tried putting back, could not match up left screw with available screw hole. Tried many different configurations and sequences to make this happen. watched a video on changing the front panel, the door in it had four screws, mine 2, no help there. Searched on the hyperextending issue, found an article about dogs and kids [had both here] climbing on the door and to check the springs and linkages. Dishwasher worked fine except the top rack would keep coming off the rails, could see the rollers needed replacement. Washer is 10 years old, and in that time the rollers had become brittle and broken. At first tried to use old screw and washer, but washer was impossible to remove from screw as I have hard water and the calcium deposits seemingly cemented it.
