The Defrost Harness is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This wire connector is responsible for connecting the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat to the main control board. It enables the defrost heater to melt any accumulated frost or ice on the evaporator coils, preventing excessive buildup and maintaining cooling.
A bad defrost harness can occur due to wear and tear, damage, or loose connections. If you notice symptoms such as excessive frost or ice buildup in the freezer, inadequate cooling, or the refrigerator running continuously, it may indicate a need to replace the wire connector.
