Replace the lock assembly: Open the lid and remove four philips screws from underneath the gasket. Carefully and patiently remove all of the gasket clips, first from the left and right sides then remove all but two from the top so when the final one comes out the panel and gasket can come towards you and then set gently in the top of the freezer. The square shaft was broken off in the recessed hole of the freezer door lock and would not allow the key to engage it to turn and lock the freezer door. R and R of door lock assy was necessary but not easy-it was accessed through a 1/2" X 1.5" slot in the inner ledge of the door that the hook from the lock protruded through to lock the door.
