This evaporator is the sealed coil inside the freezer compartment that absorbs heat from the cabinet so the refrigerator can maintain proper temperatures. Replacing a damaged or corroded evaporator restores normal cooling performance. What it does:

• Circulates refrigerant through the freezer to absorb heat and enable the cooling cycle
• Removes heat so the compressor and condenser can reject it outside the cabinet
• Commonly associated with symptoms like poor cooling, warm freezer/fridge, or excessive frost/ice buildup on the evaporator
• A damaged or leaking evaporator can lead to long run times or cycling issues

• Disconnect power to the appliance before starting any repair
• Access typically requires removing interior panels and the evaporator cover
• Evaporator is part of the sealed refrigeration system—if the system is leaking or requires brazing
• Avoid puncturing the coil or bending fins; use OEM mounting hardware and replace gaskets as needed
