This small metal clip secures the body side panel to the range frame. It snaps into place to hold panels firmly aligned and prevent rattling or looseness. Replace this clip if your side panel feels loose, shifts out of position, or if the original clip has broken or gone missing during a repair.
Removed three screws holding trim on bottom of oven door, removed rusted trim, installed new trim, reinserted the three screws. Stove looks new again! The problem is a finicky ignition system, Direct Spark Ignition. Apparently Whirlpool redesigned the igniter/burner assembly slightly to make it more reliable. The repair is very easy. Turn off power, but you don't need to turn off gas. Remove oven bottom and flame spreader, then remove burner/igniter assembly, one screw at front, one at back.
