This start relay provides the initial electrical boost needed to start your freezer's compressor motor. It engages briefly during startup then disengages once the compressor is running. Replace it if your freezer won't cool, the compressor won't start, or if you hear clicking sounds without the compressor running.
This was tricky. The first thing I should have done was unplug the freezer and reset the control board. Instead, I checked the voltage to the fan, (none), voltage to the control board (good), and continuity of the temp sensor (good). Figured bad control board...ordered part.
