Replace both thee the dispenser lever and the housing as both had broken tabs. Took about 45 minutes. Pretty straight forward repair. Easy enough that you can simply look at it to see how it comes apart. Tip: to get main panel off, remove 3 screws under drip tray then the panel slides up to come off door. Read more
I checked with Appliance Parts Pros.com and found out that the likely culprit was a broken Ice Dispenser Actuator Arm. I watched a video on the same site and figured I could change that part. I wanted to confirm it was that part so I took the front section apart. The Ice Dispenser Actuator Arm was in fact broken; the little tab that strikes the switch had broken off. I removed the control box and replaced it with the one I ordered. I did have to remove and replace the thermostat controls on the front panel also. the controls were part of the control box kit but the front housing was not. It was easy to remove and replace everything.
