First attempt was to replace the door latch mechanism...didn't fix it. Kept researching and the washer control knob had been hard to turn so it seemed logical that was the problem. Also, at some point the end cap had broken. As it has the main grounding point inside it and as I was taking the control panel apart anyway it made sense to replace it. Read more

Which means in some applications you may need to drill off old design mounting bracket prior to mounting the new lock. I unplugged the power source to the appliance. I unscrewed 2 screws and unplugged the lid switch. I replaced the old switch with the new switch and screwed in the same 2 screws that held the old switch in place and plugged the new lid switch back in under the lid. that's it .
