The repair is fairly straightforward. Remove the Phillips head screws on the interior of the door to access the back of the Escutcheon. Note that the bottom 2 screws on the door are machine screws with a tighter thread. I put small clamps on the door hinges to hold the door down as it will want to pop up as soon as the weight of the interior door plastic has been removed. I originally thought it was just accumulated dirt and sludge in the sump and the lines. I cleaned all that and it was not the cause. Saw this video...took off the filter frame and the piston & nut assembly was definitely broke (cap deteriorated to nothing). Need pliers to break it free as in the video. I accidentally ripped the screen taking off the filter frame, and saw a hole from the heating rod on top of the inlet cover so I replaced them too. Very easy replacement project once it was...
