The Oven Light Switch is an OEM part for Bosch ranges. It engages convenient interior illumination through a single motion, allowing monitoring of baked goods without compromising temps.
Causes of a bad oven light switch can include failures from the natural stresses of constant clicking associated with opening and closing the oven door.
Symptoms of a bad oven light switch include:
- Dim or unresponsive lights even when the door is opened properly
- Inability to turn lights off, leaving them burning needlessly
- Stuck in either the on or off position without toggle functionality
- Potentially hazardous exposed live terminals under switch housings
This OEM Bosch part can also be used on Thermador and Gaggenau appliances.

Bosch electric oven not coming up to temp. Edward H. • Townsend , MA • February 24, 2019
The broiling element (Upper) does not come on if the door is not closed - I realized this when I tried to test the element using Broil - it kept saying 'Close Door', and would not heat. Therefore by replacing the door switch it fixed the problem with coming up to temperature on Bake - I guess the upper Broiling element is used in addition to the baking element to get up to temp.
Changing switch is trivial - just pull/pry it out and pull off connectors and push it back it in.
