The range latch screw is a small fastener used to secure the door latch mechanism or latch strike plate firmly to the range frame. It keeps the latch components from shifting or loosening over time with repeated use. Replace this screw when the original is stripped, missing, or corroded, causing the latch assembly to feel loose or the oven door to not close securely.

Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up.
