Had to replace the igniter module. Some key things I came to learn: 1. If you remove the bottom drawer, you can find an envelope there that is for the technician. It explains some things about how the igniter senses the flame, and some advice about diagnosis. 2. The igniter module on my model of slide-in range is located inside a box that is visible when you remove the bottom drawer. No need to slide the range out. 3. Fix a stuck burner valve or ignition issues with this cooktop gas valve. Simple DIY repair—unscrew the gas line nut, swap the valve, and retighten.
This was a simple fix. The igniters and valve I received, were a simple unplugging of the old igniters and plug in the new ones, (two wires). The valve removal and installing the new valve was just a matter of removing the faulty valve by unscrewing a nut which was attached to a gas line, Then installing the new valve by placing the valve in its place and tightening the nut. I found AppliancePartsPros online and they had exact replacements of the burner caps. The website easily listed the part numbers that the caps replaced (since Kennmore no longer had them). The bonus was that they were available in a shiny black which looks so much more attractive on my stove. I did have to get the grates from another company. Read more
