Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The door seal was brittle and cracked so the oven leaked hot air   Carol F. • Martell , NE • November 07, 2014

First, the reader should know that the oven is a GE wall oven, model JKS05P1 and it was 22 years old when I made the repair. I bought the door seal from Appliance Parts Pros so used the directions in the Q&A for this part. I loosened the screws as directed, but the old seal wouldn't budge. I searched online for other directions and discovered the screws needed to come out and the inner-liner needed to be pulled forward just a bit. This relieved pressure on the old seal and it was then easy... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Shattered outer glass of double oven door   Shannon M. • Waco , TX • January 05, 2015

Had to remove old glass shards, and reflector tape. Would recommend pliers. I used a utility knife and gloves. Then removed the screws on the top section of outer glass trim. This allowed me to install the metal handle brackets inside and partially behind the trim piece, before securing to new glass. During this time, I did settle the new piece of glass in the bottom track of the outer trim. I also the installed the new heat. reflector tape to the top inside edge of the door. Had to leave some... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Shaft of selector switch broke off on 1970's era ge wall mount oven   Mark G. • Greensboro , NC • November 14, 2015

Turned power to oven off at breaker box. Opened oven door. Unscrewed 3 Phillips-head screws on chrome trim around control panel. Unscrewed 2 Phillips-head screws holding selector switch. Laid control panel down on top of closed oven door. Removed wires by hand from old switch and connected them to the same terminals on the new switch (the wire connectors pull off easily). Using pliers, snapped off all but the lowest segment of shaft on replacement switch. Put shaft through hole in control... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Removing to clean   Randy S. • Bremerton , WA • August 18, 2018

The fan was straightforward unscrew and disconnect wires then reinstall. The gaskets required the door to be disassembled contrary to the video that was provided when purchasing the gasket for the door. Disassembly was not hard just take a lot of pictures so you get everything back into the correct place. Also, a good time to clean door frame and wash the glass. Read more
