Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Big Kitchenaid built in would not defrost cold freezer warm frig   Thomas S. • Los Altos , CA • June 02, 2018

Ordered and replaced defrost timer and bimetal defrost switch. Defrosted the freezer coils. Got to timer on top of unit. Removed timer. NO instructions with new timer!! Ohmed new timer to figure what the loose timer wire tied to. Compared to schematic and decided on connecting it to 2 (pink). Put it all together along with the bimetal switch. Checked continuity of heaters. Seemed to be cooling properly but could not hang around for a defrost cycle. Will check again soon to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You It was missing the front handle of two freezer baskets   Daniela O. • Park Ridge , IL • November 17, 2014

Went to chat and chose the two handles that were specifically for my model GE Profile Refrigerator. The items came in two days and the fix was super easy. HOWEVER, for some reason the baskets in MY GE fridge must not be original because the handles were too short. I decided to keep them and work with them as without anything there the food would just slide out. APP were very helpful and even looked to other online sellers and the replacement part for my unit was correct. We came to the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The freezer draw was not opening or closing properly   Philip R. • Staten Island , NY • June 24, 2014

I knew the problem was with the gears and / or the rails they ride on. You can't really tell until you take it apart. Turns out my right side track had a few damaged teeth towards the front. The door has to come off, it lifts right out from the metal slide, no tools needed for this part of the repair. Both baskets have to be lifted out. The plastic gards that go over the tops have retaining clips. Pry the old gears off off the metal slides with a sturdy flat screwdriver. The replacement gears... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Condensor fan stopped running compressor/coils overheating   Dana W. • Jefferson City , MO • June 27, 2014

Remove rear dust panel and grill to expose compressor and fan. Three 1/4 bolts hold fan in place from rear, need to "reach around and feel" used a 1/4" ratchet but nut driver would work as well to remove old fan/bracket. Disconnect electrical connection. On new fan, push fan blade onto fan shaft. New fan comes with 3 mounting arms and rubber bushings. Insert rubber bushings into old screw holes on the refrigerator, push new mounting arms through, hook end first. Use old 1/4" mounting... Read more
