The Inner Glass is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool built-in and slide-in electric ranges. As an interior part, this tempered glass serves as the viewing window for the oven cavity below. It is precision cut by Whirlpool to fit seamlessly within the oven door frame assembly.
Causes of broken inner glass can include impact from heavy pots or pans dropped inside during loading/unloading. Thermal stresses from repeated heating cycles may develop fine hairline cracks as well.

I removed the oven door, removed all screws, detached the front from the rear, carefully took out broken glass, replaced with new (smaller sized than original, but worked), reattached front and rear panels, replaced screws, and replaced door to finish. Read more
