I recently shattered the outer glass on my Whirlpool oven door. (Side note for lesson learned...don't swat at a fly with a broom when its on the oven door. I didnt swing hard just a love tap but thats all it took ha ha) The toughest part of the fix was removing the broken glass as it had shattered into hundreds...no thousands of pieces. After powering the ovens down for one hour and powering back up, the problem persisted. I removed the control panel and looked for anything obvious such as burned connections or components. After checking the capacitor and a few relays, I decided that since most of the components cannot be checked accurately in-circuit, it was easier to replace the entire control panel. Read more
