Taking off the dryer top was easy. The Maytag Epic Z front panel comes straight off if you push in the side tabs. (It's still a struggle, but you won't break anything.) There's a metal piece that the lint filter pushes down into that got bent a bit I guess and ended up skewering the lint filter. I got it loose but couldn't get the metal piece to stay where it was supposed to be to operate without catching the lint filter. I think it's there to prevent things like socks from hitting the blower wheel. When the new part came in I had to take the front cover off the blower wheel.
