This is the gearcase (gearbox) housing for a stand mixer, which contains and supports the internal gears that transfer motor power to the mixing attachments. It serves as the structural enclosure for the gear train assembly. Replace this part if the gearcase is cracked, leaking lubricant, or if the gears are no longer properly supported, causing unusual noises or wobbling during operation.
