I checked on line for possible issues and it came back to the PTC relay overload assembly. I ordered one and verified with the technician if the instructions for wiring it up to an older model is addressed. He sent me a copy of the instructions and it covered everything. The part came in a about three days and I had it wired up in about 30 minutes with no issues. It's been running like a champ. Read more

Removed the back cover to access the fan area. Clean the area with brush and vac first. Unplugged the Refrigerator. Used a socket set with 1/4" socket. Had an extended and a standard socket. Removed the condensate plastic drain from the bottom of the refrigerator to have more access to the fan. Unplugged the fan motor. Removed the two screws holding the fan in place. This is a Whirlpool refrigerator control board. It manages the appliance's temperature, defrost timing, and other vital functions. If damaged, the refrigerator may have difficulty maintaining an appropriate temperature. The compressor may run constantly, or may never kick on at all.Unplug the refrigerator before installing this part. It might be a good idea to move food to temporary cool storage, as well. Technician replaced the damper first, but that did not fix the problem. Then he said it was the circuit board that needed replacing after confirming the temp sensor was ok, but he wanted $200 in labor to replace it.
