The compactor failed with the ram down, so the drawer wouldn't open which in turn made the mounting brackets inaccessible. This necessitated sliding a thin oscillating saw blade between the cabinet face frame and the counter top to cut through the brackets. This is the front-facing outer door panel for a trash compactor, featuring a stainless steel finish. It serves as the visible exterior surface of the compactor drawer, providing a clean and finished appearance. Replace this panel if it is dented, scratched, rusted, or otherwise cosmetically damaged.
You need to remove the entire compactor basket, so that can be a little unwieldy. There are 8 total Phillips head screws. Two on each side of the wrap-around portion of the panel, two on the bottom of the panel, and two larger screws that are used to hold the foot pedal in place. The two lower screws on the bottom of the panel also screw through the rubber stop strip on the bottom of the basket. Fix a compactor that won't cycle or has intermittent control with this SPDT rocker switch. Snaps in with finger pressure in about 5-30 minutes.
Verified "solid mode" side of switch was open, ordered new switch. Removal of old switch and installation of new switch is easy, the switch is held in with tabs, finger pressure was enough to allow the old switch to be removed. The new switch then snaps right in. One minor issue I encountered was while the new switch had wire color labels for each contact, I had to swap the two outer leads (orange/black, and yellow) to get the operating mode to match the front panel labels. This latch assembly secures the trash compactor drawer in the closed position and engages the safety interlock that allows the compactor to operate. It mounts to the front of the compactor frame and connects to the door switch mechanism. Replace this part if the drawer will not latch shut, the compactor fails to start because it does not detect a closed door, or the latch mechanism is visibly broken or worn.
This precision thrust race serves as the hardened bearing surface for axial loads in a rotating mechanism. Replacing a worn race reduces friction and noise, helping restore smooth, consistent motion and protect companion thrust bearings and washers from accelerated wear.
I bought new thrust races, a drive gear kit, bearings and a sprocket. When the bearing went out, the thrust races, washers, one bottom plate, and a sprocket was eaten up by the the chain due to the slack being created. I followed the video for the Drive Gear Kit repair and everything went together well.
