The hinge grommet provides cushioning and smooth operation where the washer lid connects to the main body. Replace if the lid doesn't close properly, makes grinding noises when opening/closing, or appears loose and wobbly.

The noise turned out to be the bottom bearing between the belt pulley and the transmission. Once apart an easy replacement. But you did need some tools to replace the bearing as in snap ring pliers and bearing puller. The water leak was the top rubber seal which is part of the seal kit. I had to make a puller out of some chain and a 2 jaw-bearing puller to the top of the transmission shaft to get the trunnion off but once it was off the rest was a snap. The video was a big help. Agitator rod and gear kit for washers. Connects the agitator to the drive system. Replace if gears are stripped, worn, or rod is broken or damaged.
This is a rubber seal gasket that fits between the transmission gear case housing halves on a washing machine. It prevents gear oil from leaking out of the transmission assembly during operation. Replace this gasket if you notice oil leaking from the bottom of the washer or if the transmission is being disassembled for repair.
