This component is a control panel used on many dishwashers. It sits at the top of the dishwasher door and includes a small display window. The control panel has several buttons for users to select a cycle, turn on and off the dishwasher, and change the options for the appliance. The basic responsibility of the control panel is to ensure the appliance goes through the correct cycle with the right options to meet the needs of a user.If the control panel is damaged, it may cause the dishwasher to stop running. It can create sticky keys or cause the lights to blink or turn off completely. If the control panel is no longer working, it should be replaced. Make sure the dishwasher is disconnected from power. Use a screwdriver to remove the control panel from the door panel. Let it fall downward so a note can be made of how the wires are connected to the component. Disconnect the wiring and reconnect it to the new control panel. All of the buttons except the start button worked fine so I suspected a door latch problem. When I took the door apart I found the latch handle was broken on one side. My assumption was the broken handle was not engaging the door switch correctly causing the dishwasher to not start because it registered as not being lactched close.
