I took the pump apart to exam, checked drain hose and sink drain first, everything looked OK. After studying the problem for a while I decided it had to be in the filter, ordered a new filter and it took about 10 minutes to replace. After getting the new filter I realized that there was a check ball rattling inside the new one that my old filter did not have anymore, the real cause for the pump not to drain. P.S. Removed dishwasher to replace spray arm pine--I replaced washer on pipe, too, and would recommend doing this just on principal. Removing dishwasher requires disconnecting power, water, and drain line--tools will vary depending on connections. i replaced drain line because original install was not done correctly--hose too short--You could probably do just this w/o pulling unit.
