This is a stainless steel control knob used on a cooktop to adjust the heat level of a surface burner element. The knob attaches to the control shaft on the front panel of the appliance. Replace this part if the knob is cracked, discolored, or if the D-shaped mounting hole is stripped, causing the knob to spin freely without adjusting the burner.
