This thermal safety device monitors temperature in your microwave and shuts off power if overheating occurs. It protects the magnetron and other components from damage due to excessive heat. Replace it if your microwave stops heating, runs but doesn't heat food, or shuts off unexpectedly.
Replaced a bad thermostat. The factory thermostat had a bad internal connection (one contact was loose) and that caused the insulation to melt with the eventual failure of the thermostat.
